OBAMA SURGES AHEAD AMONG CATHOLICS

Pope Benedict XVI US President Barack Obama (L) meets with Pope Benedict XVI in his library at the Vatican on July 10, 2009 in Vatican City, Vatican. Obama was meeting with The Pope for the first time as President following the G8 summit in L'Aquila, Italy.

CATHOLICS FOR OBAMA EFFORTS SEE SUCCESS

According to a new poll by Pew Research, the Catholic flock is flocking to President Obama in huge numbers.  Among all registered voters, Obama leads Romney 51-42 percent, according to Pew.  For Romney, this is a five point decline from summer even though since then he selected a Catholic as his running mate (as is Vice President Joe Biden).

Right-wing Catholic groups have generally followed the same failed strategy they used in 2008 when they miserably lost the Catholic vote to Barack Obama.  Efforts have almost exclusive focused on getting conservative Catholics angry and riled up against the President and making harsh judgments on the faith and spirituality of Catholics who are undecided or who consider their vote a personal discernment.

These tactics have only alienated undecided Catholics and caused conservative Catholics to put an ugly face on their political activism. Catholic Democrats in turn have been respectful of the moral ability of good Catholics to vote either way, while making polite case for our candidates.

Right-wing Catholics? Oh, you mean FAITHFUL Catholics.

Katherine said...

Nope. I mean Right Wing Catholics who are the best thing the Obama campaign has going for us because they keep telling undecided Catholics that you HAVE to vote Republican to be a Catholic.

Yeah, telling people they will go to Hell if they don't vote Republican is really effective.

You are both liars. But there is absolutely no point in arguing with either one of you. NONE!

Shhhhhh! Don't tell them what they are doing wrong. Then again, they won't believe you. And odds are that they will probably even rachet up their alienating tactics, confusing being hateful with being faithful. Waiting for just such a dependable response from Anon.

Jake,

Don't worry. It will have no impact. Their complusion to hate exceeds their desire to win.

Pro-life is non-negotiable. More and more Bishops and Archbishops are speaking out. They don't mention anyone by name but they say that NO faithful Catholic could ever vote for an American hating, pro gay marriage anti-capitalist pro abortion and infanticide excuse for a president. One bishop in Illinois even went as far as to say that voting for Oblabla is putting ones immortal soul at risk

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Many novenas to the blessed mother are being said by hundreds in our diocese----asking our Lord to deliver us from this godless, deviant, and perverse administration that is under Obama. We even say to prayer to St Micheal in our churches to restore religious freedom to our nation. . Your organization should remove the name Catholic. It is very misleading. Think about what you are doing. Shame on you. Most of you guys wouldn't even pass an exam I give to my confirmation kids on the teachings of the church, to include its history. I will pray for all of you. I do not believe as well that god would abandon Israel to the wolves of the middle east to our weak leader

Susan W -- You really should reconsider your harsh and hateful words because you too will be judged. And if pro-life is non-negotiable, that means that you cannot vote for Romney because he is pro-death penalty. And I wish you would stop calling yourself Catholic because you give the majority of us a bad name.

Pennsylvania You are mistaking Gods truth for hate. It is out of Christian love that I say these things. If you see your brother about ready to walk off a cliff, do you say nothing? No, you tell him to stop before he falls off the cliff in certain death. And yes, I am against the death penalty as well. But God allows the authority of government to excute those who are guilty of crimes. A baby in the womb is innocent. If you take a list of the evil things this administration stands for and that which you would consider evil in Romneys case, I think the scales would weigh heavily against Obama any way you look at it. Yes, you are right that I and all of us will be judged. But we have the love of Christ and the sacrament of confession. And it is not out of hate but love for all that I speak the truth.

Susan, God Bless you, but don't try to reason with these people. Just pray for them.

Because, Susan, your attempts at reasoning are making you look like a fool.

Note to our readers:

When you post a comment, you can use yoru Google Account or OpenID. If you want you also have the option of just making up a name.

It seems we have one person here who wants exclusive claim to the name "Anonymous." That doesn't work as we get other anonymous posts.

If picking a random name that still protects your privacy is beyond your abilities, I'm not sure your comments are of any value.

You are such a fake. We know the truth behind your "anonymous" comments. Why didn't you post my last comment to you?? If your effort is to make me stop posting that is fine. You aren't worth anyone's time, Katherine. Goodbye! Anyone who sees future "anonymous" comments such as the one SUPPORTIVE of Susan W know that it is not me. You won't publish this one either will you Katherine??? The idea that making up some silly name such as "Ohio Slovak" or "Pennsylvania Pole" somehow gives you an identity is just plain silly. Katherine only posts those she deems useful to her ends. See how she posts Susan W and then only wants to post those making fun of her? Your so called "catholicism" is pathetic, Katherine. Now make sure that jake and kurt and pole and slovak, etc.etc say how they are going to pray for me in their phony "catholic' way. You are all pathetic obama lovers who don't even recognize a sad, sick man when you see him. Adios!
