Obama Prepares for Al Smith Dinner

McCain and Obama to Appear at Al Smith Dinner

Other than the presidential debates, the remaining joint appearance of the top presidential contenders will be the Archdiocese of New York's annual Al Smith Dinner on October 16th. Unlike the debates, the candidates will be wearing tuxedos.

Senator Obama gladly accepted the invitation from the Archdiocese to appear at the dinner and help raise money for New York Catholic Charities. The dinner is a charitable and social event and doesn't present much of a chance for the candidates to campaign as Obama is certain to win New York State. Like with McCain's recent withdrawal from Michigan, there is no active McCain effort to win Connecticut or New Jersey, the neighboring states in the New York City media market.

Barack Obama, who once worked as a community organizer for a Catholic sponsored project, is the first presidential candidate who once had his office in a rectory.

Al Smith was the Democratic nominee for President in 1928 and Governor of New York State. The Republicans referred to him as a "rum-soaked Romanist."

Here are my proportionate reasons for voting for John McCain rather than Obama.

1. He is the lesser of two evils. He is not as rabid abortionist as is his opponent. He at least is leaning the right direction and has appointed a pro-family, pro-life running mate. Obama is in favor of denying medical aid to botched aborted living babies.

2. His opponent is pro-homosexual marriage and adoption, an evil that is as disgusting as ripping apart an innocent child. Homo-adoption is equivalent of child rape.

3. His opponent is a rabid Marxist.

4. His opponent is a closet Muslim who will be soft on terrorism and the institution of Sharia Law.

5. McCain has agreed to appoint a pro-life judge to the Supreme Court. Obama will appoint another lunatic like Hillary.

6. McCain is a war hero and very pro-military. Both McCain and Palin have sons in the military. His opponent cannot be trusted to be favorable to the military.

7. McCain is a known citizen with a valid birth certificate.

8. Obama has every indication of being a racist and has been quoted as such.

9. Obama's patriotism is in serious question. He won't salute the flag or recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Instead he has a flag with Che Guevara's picture on it hanging on the wall of his office.

10. Obama's minister is a replica of Obama's "Christianity."

11. Obama is tool of William Ayers, the convicted unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist bomber .

12. Obama's law school was paid for by Muslims.

NO WONDER YOU PEOPLE DON'T HAVE ANY PROPORTIONATE REASONS FOR VOTING FOR COMRADE OBAMA.

THERE AREN'T ANY.

Awaiting Confirmation From the Truth Squad
In an attempt to avoid intimidation by Obamunist law enforcement officials, Dave Weinbaum has sent a letter to members of Obama's Missouri Truth Squads — specifically Obama Missouri Campaign leader Senator Claire McCaskill, St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, and Jefferson County Sheriff Glen Boyer. He's wondering if he's allowed to observe that

• Barack asked the Iraqi foreign minister to delay US troop withdrawal until after the US elections?
• Obama lied when he said McCain wanted to extend the war in Iraq for 60 to 100 years?
• Barack's minions have hired and/or moved lawyers/investigators into Alaska to destroy Governor Palin and her family?
• Obama claimed the surge hasn't worked right up until he appeared on the O'Reilly Factor just weeks ago?
• Barack claims he's for individual ownership of firearms, yet backs those communities that ban guns?
• Barack said, "I've been in 57 states-I think one left to go?"
• Obama's church gave a lifetime achievement award to white hating anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan?
• Obama claimed that his tire gauge/tune-up solution to our energy crisis, would gain us just as much oil as off-shore drilling?
• Barack was the second highest recipient of Fannie Mae contributions with three years in the US Senate, only beaten out by the chair of the US Senate banking committee, 30 year senate veteran, Chris Dodd?
• Barack claimed he never heard his minister, Reverend Wright say those hateful things about the USA in his 20 years of sitting through his sermons?
• Both Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden recently said Barack didn't have the experience to be president?
• Obama misled America when he placed Spanish speaking ads in southwestern states taking Rush Limbaugh out of context?
• Barack started his political career with a fundraiser in unrepentant terrorists Bill Ayers and [Bernardine] Dohrn's living room?
• Barack waffled on the Iraqi war in 2004 by telling the Chicago Tribune that his and George Bush's positions were basically the same?
• Barack said those in small towns, "…cling to guns and religion…as a way to explain their frustrations" to a crowd of elitist west coasters in San Francisco?
• Obama is in favor of denying medical aid to botched aborted living babies?
• Barack claimed Iran, as a tiny country, was no threat to the USA?
Missourians are warned not to state any of these facts as facts until they have been certified by the state's arbiters of truth.

Al Smith, of course, had no chance of winning the presidency in 1928 being Catholic in a country that was was still dominated by waspy protestant elites! The silver lining was Hoover turned out to be one of the five worst u.s. presidents in history making way for FDR's (4) term presidency.

JFK broke through the prejudice against Catholics barrier in 1960 w/the help of LBJ as v-p and as Joseph Kennedy, Sr. mentioned. "It takes three things to become president, money, money and money!"

Obama has picked the exact right time in the time/warp continuum to run for president after (8) years of dubya the worst president in u.s. history, not a close call and running against McBush who barely has a pulse.

The stars have been aligned in favor of the next president of the u.s. Barack Obama !!!

So it shall be written, so it shall be done!

And money is important to you isn't it McShyster? Anything for a buck. Let's just check and see where Obama got ALL his money. Let's start with the Muslims, the Weathermen, the Communist Party USA, etc., etc.

So there you have it. McCain is ethical and doesn't take money from scumbags, but Obama does.

Obama has plenty of money, but he didn't get it from the hard working American people unless he stole it from them.

Secret, Foreign Money Floods Into Obama Campaign

Monday, September 29, 2008 9:23 PM

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman

More than half of the whopping $426.9 million Barack Obama has raised has come from small donors whose names the Obama campaign won't disclose.

And questions have arisen about millions more in foreign donations the Obama campaign has received that apparently have not been vetted as legitimate.

Obama has raised nearly twice that of John McCain's campaign, according to new campaign finance report.

But because of Obama’s high expenses during the hotly contested Democratic primary season and an early decision to forgo public campaign money and the spending limits it imposes, all that cash has not translated into a financial advantage — at least, not yet.

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee began September with $95 million in cash, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

The McCain camp and the Republican National Committee had $94 million, because of an influx of $84 million in public money.

But Obama easily could outpace McCain by $50 million to $100 million or more in new donations before Election Day, thanks to a legion of small contributors whose names and addresses have been kept secret.

Unlike the McCain campaign, which has made its complete donor database available online, the Obama campaign has not identified donors for nearly half the amount he has raised, according to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP).

Federal law does not require the campaigns to identify donors who give less than $200 during the election cycle. However, it does require that campaigns calculate running totals for each donor and report them once they go beyond the $200 mark.

Surprisingly, the great majority of Obama donors never break the $200 threshold.

“Contributions that come under $200 aggregated per person are not listed,” said Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the FEC. “They don’t appear anywhere, so there’s no way of knowing who they are.”

The FEC breakdown of the Obama campaign has identified a staggering $222.7 million as coming from contributions of $200 or less. Only $39.6 million of that amount comes from donors the Obama campaign has identified.

It is the largest pool of unidentified money that has ever flooded into the U.S. election system, before or after the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reforms of 2002.

Biersack would not comment on whether the FEC was investigating the huge amount of cash that has come into Obama’s coffers with no public reporting.

Here are my proportionate reasons for voting for Obama rather than McCain.

1. John McCain admitted to intentionally filing false income tax returns to defraud the IRS by not claiming thousands of dollars in gifts McCain and his family received from Charles Keating and Keating’s company. Years later, when the IRS noticed Keating’s company had written off the to McCain as business expenses, McCain fessed up and admitted filing false returns and made a “donation” to the U.S. Treasury to cover the amount he defrauded American tax payers; Once a liar always a liar. McCain also leaked information about the Keating Five to the press multiple times in an effort to appear above the other Senators in the scandal.

2. John McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain, along with her father, made a $359,000 investment in retail property owned by Charles Keating in 1986, a year before John McCain first met with federal regulators on behalf of Keating. Keating was later convicted on 73 counts of fraud, conspiracy, and other crimes. Years later, Cindy McCain sold her investment for $15,000,000.

You must be a real trip. The IRS is defrauding the American people and you think that somebody who did't pay for gifts is the defrauder. No wonder this country is in such a mess with idiots like you.

DUMBANGLE SAID: "Keating was later convicted on 73 counts of fraud, conspiracy, and other crimes."

Oh and because Keating was convicted and was doing business with McCain's wife McCain should go to jail as well?

Was that one of the 14 Amendments? Thou shalt be guilty by association?

Now lets talk about the money factor. It appears that money is very important McSAME. In fact it is more important than his original statement that he will cut pork. He will give the names of people who vote for the PORK. Then McSAME voted for …and is taking credit for the largest piece of pork, the BAILOUT! Perhaps McSAMES wife needed the provision for RUM IMPORTERS. Perhaps McSAME needed the wooden arrows pork that was in there. Talk about not making sense! HE voted for pork! In fact I guess that makes him, by your standers, a MARXIST!

A message from Nicholas Cafardi, a Catholic scholar:

Let's suppose Roe v. Wade were overturned. What would happen? The matter would simply be kicked back to the states -- where it was before 1973. Overturning Roe would not abolish abortion. It would just mean that abortion would be legal in some states and illegal in others. The number of abortions would remain unchanged as long as people could travel.
McCain has promised to appoint "strict constructionist" judges who would presumably vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. But is that sufficient reason for a Catholic to vote Republican? To answer that question, let's look at the rest of the church's list of intrinsically evil acts.
Both McCain and Obama get failing marks on embryonic stem-cell research, which Catholic teaching opposes. The last time the issue was up for a vote in the Senate, both men voted to ease existing restrictions.
But what about an unjust war? In 2003, then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) said flatly that "reasons sufficient for unleashing a war against Iraq did not exist." McCain voted for it; Obama opposed it.
What about torture? "There is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes," according to Antonio Taguba, the retired major general who investigated abuses in Iraq. Obama opposes the use of torture in all cases; McCain, himself a victim of torture, voted to allow the CIA to use so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques" -- a euphemism for torture.

I suppose Obama opposed it because he was interested in moral theology? No, it is called political expediency.

He's little different than the Vietnam protesters. He's a radical Marxist not a Catholic sympathizer.

You're a little naive aren't you McAngle?

McANGLE SAID: "Let's suppose Roe v. Wade were overturned...It would just mean that abortion would be legal in some states and illegal in others."

And I suppose that's not progress? You clearly have not been thinking too deeply about this issue.

It's time for you to put the dunce hat on,stand in the corner, and quit bothering people.

Well if we went back to the States decision that would be the way it was in 1973. Somehow that seems like regression NOT progression.

I wish you would quit showing your BACKWARDS thinking!

Do any of you "Catholics", before receiving the sacrement of penance, offer up to God - thru a priest, that you ignore His teachings and support a secular leader with a Position to continually abort His most wonderful human creation?

Rust,

Perhaps you should go and read from the USCCB. That’s the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, unless you are a Tridentine and do not recognize the Catholic Bishops. (That would explain why your Fr. O’Brian would perform and exorcism without approval of a Bishop.) There look under Faithful Citizenship and it spells things out for you.

I pray daily at Mass for the unborn and for an end to abortion. I also pray for you and others who feel Respecting Life is only an abortion thing. No…. ALL life is precious even the life that was erroneously sent to war in Iraq. Even the life that died because of the lack of health care the U.S. has. So yes you can shame me and call me names…I will still pray for you. Jesus asked me to have pity and sympathy, remember Rust, those corporal works? I will take Communion and as always say…Lord I am not worthy……I do not believe that we were asked to say…..Lord my Neighbor is not worthy…..

God Bless All

McANGLE SAID: "Perhaps you should go and read from the USCCB.

Oh, you mean the group bishops that has no authority as a group within the Catholic Church?

Is this the same group of liberal bishops that allowed homosexuals to be ordained and then when they molested our children these same bishops covered up for them? Is this the group that John Paul II continually struggled with to keep them from breaking away and forming their own American Catholic Church? Is this the group that continually ignores Rome? Is that the group of bishops you're talking about?

Well it's the same group of bishops the late Byzantine Ruthenian Bishop Thomas Dolinay walked out of their meeting and called them a "bunch of communists."

I personally know the President of such group and have spoken with him on many occasions.

What was it you wanted to tell me about them?

McANGLE SAID: "That’s the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, unless you are a Tridentine and do not recognize the Catholic Bishops."

Oh I recognize them alright and am neither a Tridentine, nor any other schismatic.

Do you not understand that they are a self-appointed group and have no authority except in their respective diocese?

McANGLE SAID: "That would explain why your Fr. O’Brian would perform and exorcism without approval of a Bishop."

Now just how do you know that he would do such a thing? How do you draw such a conclusion without having a clue?

You know Angle, you need to slap yourself some more because the first two times didn't do much good.

Joe Biden is not allowed to receive the Body Of Christ. How can you even call yourself a follower of Christ and support a candidate that the church has said is in mortal sin because of the way that he votes consisitantly to murder the unborn.

Mortal sin is commited when you have grave matter, full knowledge and full consent.

Any Catholic who votes for Obama and Joe Biden, is in mortal sin. You should not receive Jesus anymore, because you will be defiling yourselves if you do.

Anonymous said...

rustler are you Catholic? With all the evil things spewing out of your mouth I would not think so.

People, abortion is a tough issue for sure. No matter where you stand on the subject I don't think that should be your ONLY argument for or against a candidate.

Is abortion worse than killing innocent people in war? Is abortion worse than torture?

I won't say either is worse, they are both equally evil.

I don't think making abortion illegal is what people should be focusing on. Rather, then focus on negating something, focus on promiting the alternative. Making it illegal will NOT stop abortions.

However, if you promote education on knowing how to prevent unwanted pregnancies, promoting counseling for confused pregnant women, promoting adoption, and helping out the mother raise the child by herself, etc. That's the way to go.

God gives us free will. It is on those people conscience, heart, and soul to what they do. I cannot speak for them, I cannot choose for them.

All I'm saying is if you agree with Mccain on many issues vote for him. If you agree on Obama on 90% of issues except abortion don't make that the deciding factor.

Both candidate have their postivies and negatives.

Things are suddenly all quiet. I wonder why?

Anonymous said...

Things aren't suddenly quiet. The bishops who hid the facts were more conservative (as in Boston - as in New York, as in Los Angeles) but some of them honestly thought that sexual deviants could be redeemed. It wasn't a liberal or conservative problem. It was a real problem in judgment. By the way, the most conservative archbishop of Boston (Law) was rewarded by getting a position in Rome.

Anonymous said...

Liberal bishops were not the problem. Many of the clergy, Cardinal Law for example, were very conservative.

Katherine said...

I appreciate the above statement but will make a slight quibble. Bernasrd Law was certainly one of the most rigidly conservative prelates in the country and probably the worst offender is failure to address this crisis. I don't think it is fair to say he was promoted. The good Catholics of Boston ran him out of town on a rail. Rome does not lightly remove a bishop because the laity wnat him out, but Law was two inches away from a revolution.

Under canon law, a man can be removed as Ordinary of a diocese, but it is almost impossible to remove a man from the office of cardinal. This is for good reason, as the Church does not want popes dismissing cardinals in order to overly control the election of their own successor. In the past, there have been embarrassing events such as cardinal felons needing immunity to attend a conclave.

Law was given a powerless and ceremonial post in Rome. One with no more authority than a parish priest and heavy fundraising obligations. It was a pretty big slap at a once powerful cleric. Force to leave his see and homeland and denied any position of real authority in the church.

Because, unlike you, we're Catholic and respectful of the Successors to the Apostles. You're 'issues' with the Successors to the Apostles here in America are not relevant to the secular political debate.

I just attended a meeting, "Catholics for Obama." last night in PA. I supported Obama in PA primary because this country needs a change. The catholic church preaches to vote for the pro life candidate but they fail to tell their congregation how the pro life candidate (McCain) voted against bills to support pregnant women and provide child health care, he voted against increase funding for child care. McCain voted against extending Medicaid coverage to pregnant women and infants under one incomes below the Federal poverty line. So these priests tell you to vote for pro life candidates but let's not talk about how we are going to take care of these babies when they are born. That's the mother's problem. Why don't these priest talk about how the current administration had killed over 4000 soldiers and injured how many of our soldiers. Not to mention how the Iraqi people lives' were turned upside down. But that doesn't matter. Only vote for the pro life candidate.
