New Catholics for Obama Website

Catholic Democrats has launched a new Web site Catholics for Obama. It provides a petition for Catholics to sign and a booklet, The Catholic Case for Obama, by the eminent Catholic layman Patrick Whelan, MD PhD, with a preface by Mrs. Victoria Reggie Kennedy.

I would highly recommend this Web site, which provides a comprehensive resource for Catholics to better understand how Senator Obama and the policies he supports best reflect Catholic Social Teaching.

At the Web site, you will have the opportunity to sign a petition endorsing Senator Obama's candidacy for President. Signing the petition will add your name to thousands of other Catholics who are putting themselves forward as witnesses to our enthusiasm as Catholics for the election of Barack Obama.

When I saw this blog I thought it was a joke: CATHOLICS FOR OBAMA - BIDEN, after seeing and reading it in more detail I realized it is a JOKE but let me end with this statement which says it best:

Deuteronomy Chapter 32

35 Revenge is mine, and I will repay them in due time, that their foot may slide: the day of destruction is at hand, and the time makes haste to come.
36 The Lord will judge his people, and will have mercy on his servants: he shall see that their hand is weakened, and that they who were shut up have also failed, and they that remained are consumed.

37 And he shall say: Where are their gods, in whom they trusted?
38 Of whose victims they ate the fat, and drank the wine of their drink offerings: let them arise and help you, and protect you in your distress.
39 See ye that I alone am, and there is no other God besides me: I will kill and I will make to live: I will strike, and I will heal, and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.

PS God have Mercy on you're souls

I've looked through a number of threads on this site, and it really saddens me. I think there are some intelligent people posting here, but they have elected to ignore the lost lives of millions in favor of their political agenda. Somehow John McCain's infidelity in her first marriage has been deemed a serious enough sin to offset Barack Obama's complete disregard for the lives of those who have no voice (see the thread "When Johnny met Cindy"). Withdrawal from Iraq (even though that will certainly result in the loss of more Iraqi lives) is also more important than defending the weakest members of our society. Promoting the welfare state, which inherently weakens and shows great disrespect for the individuals it supposedly helps, is paramount. I have read no comments which truly speak for the dignity of the individual. How is this Christian? How is this Catholic?

The hate is getting heavy.

melmac, who is respectful, nevertheless spits with the church on several key issues.

Sean, please specify the "many issues" on which I split from the church. It was a pretty short post so I didn't address all that many!

Any Catholic who is rationalizing a vote for Obama and the soon-to-be runaway Congress, who are anxious to pass the Freedom of Choice Act should view this video:

Visitors to this site must realize that bloggers like Katherine and Kurt are more likely than not plants from the Obama camp and not Catholics at all.

When you look at the lies, deceit, curruption (i.e. Acorn, no credit card verification, attacking citizens that ask hard questions, etc...) that this campaign will use, you begin to realize they will stop at nothing to gain their goal.

BTW, if they are Catholics, it is in their minds only... pratical atheists!

You can't be a good Catholic and vote for Obama, no way, no how. Read this article:

Catholics who vote for those who directly support abortion or abortion rights imperil their soul. It is a plain and simple teaching.

I would believe Obama was really "pro-life" if his actions (IE: voting record) actually supported some of his rhetoric.

Obama said no one is really pro-abortion. Can we also so no one is really pro-gun? Can we also say no one is really racist? Can we also say no one is really pro-war? Can we also say no one is really pro-death penalty. When someone says they are pro choice. What in the world are they choosing? Hint: abortion.

I like choice. I will probably choose to eat chicken tonight. See I am choosing something.

If it walks and quacks like a duck it is not a cow........

Obama is winning the election because he is winning the Catholic vote. Deal Hudson now admits it has been a disaster for the conservative Catholics.

I have been extremely disturbed by the trend in the Catholic Church lately. Hearing that many prominent leaders in the church are lending their support and endorsing Obama for president is mind boggling. I am a Christian in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and a firm believer that your religion must come first before your own personal beliefs. Supporting a candidate who whole-heartedly supports abortion and worse yet, partial-birth abortion, is unthinkable to me. I can't even imagine the day of reckoning when these priests and many other Catholics are standing before God in all his glory and He asks you why you didn't come to the defense of these helpless babies. What will you say? Will you say that Obama promised me free health insurance or that he seemed like a level-headed fellow. It wasn't that long ago that women were verbally chastised for using birth control but only a few short years later the Catholic church is permitting its leaders to indirectly condone abortion and gay marriage. I can't help but wonder if the Catholic church's, much like the Lutheran church's membership is in decline and this is a strategic move to keep or increase its attendance up and appeal to a wider demographic.
Well, I'm appealing to the conscience of these recent Catholic Obama converts. What would God want you to do? Have you ever watched an abortion on t.v.? I have. It is the most horrifying thing you can imagine. The baby is struggling and fighting inside the womb. It's body is writhing in pain and distress. I almost threw up after I saw it and cried for an hour. Please, reconsider voting for a man whose heart is really in the wrong place. Incidentally, what kind of people from the Obama camp would come after Catholic priests for standing up for what they believe in? Think about that as you walk to the polls. It can't be somebody who is really a Christian or he would understand the plight of the priest and would never sue for personal gain.

Why do Rustler's posts keep disappearing? He posts the best stuff here. He's the only one that really makes any sense.

Katherine said...

Because a good number of readers ask that he be banned (I rather he waste his time posting for naught -- a boy like that needs to be kept occupied so he cannot do damage elsewhere). Plus he rarely has anything thoughtful to say - at least that was the case before I stopped reading his posts.

Let me add that I also get emails from Republicans who think he is a pro-Obama stooge trying to make the GO look looney.

Ha! why do Rust's ie one trick pony's posts keep disappearing? hmm, maybe we ;) are just trying to make him feel special since he obviously suffers from an inferiority complex!

"A rep pro-Obama stooge trying to make the GOP look loony" No, the GOP does a damn fine job of that all on their own ...

take care, blessings

To those who believe the Republican Party is anti-abortion and therefore, pro-life, I'd like to offer this "new idea." They may run on that platform, but since they have had all the power for many years, where is the proposal for a Constitutional Amendment? None has been brought forward. They know it will never pass. It has less support than the ERA, and that couldn't get the total states necessary. They have the judges, but they know quite well that no combination of Supreme Court Justices in REALLY going to go against precedence and overturn Roe-v-Wade. Then there is the matter of the TOTAL hypocrisy of the Republicans. If access to abortion ended in the USA, their wives and mistresses would just go across the border or to Europe when they wanted an abortion. REAL pro-life policies come from the Democratic Party. The most important to actually reduce abortions even if the laws never change are matters of aid, medical care, justice, living wages, equal opportunity, education, etc.; i.e. all the things needed to help a woman bring an unexpected pregnancy to term. Republicans care nothing for the poor or desperate, but I know plenty of liberal Catholics who work very hard to reduce the desire or perceived "need" for abortions, not by calling people murderers, but by giving real in-the-trenches help to pregnant, desperate women. Where is the anti-abortion, not pro-life, Republican Party on the entire range of issues? Spare me the dogmatic stands, and look at the truth of what's really going on.
