How can any Catholic support abortion-crazy Obama?

Yes.

I was very pleased to see Senator Casey speak. This does much to make up for 1992. Casey, Sr. was done wrong by the Clintons and Obama has moved to correct this wrong.

Katherine,
You said you've read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Guess you missed this part:
2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:
You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.

God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.

The Baltimore Catechism ???

1. Who made us?
God made us.
2. Who is God?
God is the Supreme Being, infinitely perfect, who made all things and keeps them in existence.

etc. etc.

Cutting to the chase!

The Infinity concept ie always was and always will be was the one which peeked my interest around the 4th grade and started my belief that much of the Catholic religion is just plain looney.

I know, I know, the irony of saying 'belief' when all religions are based on one being a true believer in whatever that religion is trying to sell ie Blind Faith.

Whereas some religions are more goofy than others ie Christian Scientists, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses. Always enjoy Bill Maher's take on religion and its irrational nonsense and total inconsistancy based on reality, I digress.

Took a course on Eastern religions my junior year in high school. The irony being I went to a Jesuit hs. Anyway, after learning about Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism etc. realized although these religions were flawed in their own way, most made a lot more sense than Catholicism. Again I digress. ;)

Bottom line! Do onto others as they would do onto you and you are your brother's keeper and no man is an island. The Golden Rule is a good one also. "If you don't have anything nice to say, keep quiet. :)

Always liked Dorothy Parker's quip: If you don't have anything nice to say, let's hear it. ;)

So let's recap, all religions are goofy, some more than others and many people use religion as a crutch, so they don't have to think for themselves and do the right thing ie having a conscience and being ethical without the help of a mystical power.

hmm, what was the original question ...

take care, blessings
