The call for John McCain to remove Deal Hudson from his Catholic Advisory Board remains a concern of many Catholics. Hudson took an underage girl drinking and later brought her back to his Fordham University office for sexual relations while his wife sat at home. Some Catholics have objected to his presence as an advisor to McCain on Catholic issues. Others have suggested forgiveness for Hudson's sexual abuse and his reincorporation into conservative Catholic political action. Hudson resigned four years ago as chief conservative Catholic advisor to the Bush-Cheney campaign.
A Salon article says that "the McCain campaign 'had no immediate comment' about Hudson. A McCain spokesman has not responded to an e-mail Salon sent seeking comment." (See link below for full story)
ABC News is also covering this story. See this link:

What a schmuck.
I would sure keep my daughter away from him.
I just love it when a liberal gets indignant about a moral question concerning one of their enemies!!!
Some college girl wants a better grade in class, gets a little tipsy, goes with her professor to his office, seduces him, and then blames him for everything.
Now tell me that's not the scenario.

Sounds like you've had more than your share of experiences with tipsy college girls. You perv.
Hudson remains a concern, Obama's support for abortion and infanticide is not. Can't make it up.
I'm concerned about abortion. I'm also concerned about limiting every conversation to abortion to the point where abuse of young girls is condoned, Max.
Come on, Sean, I don't think talking about abortion in every conversation means that abuse of a
young girl is condoned. That is grossly unfair.
That is grossly unfair.
How so? We are currently in the midst of our great quadrennial national conversation. Absolutely this is a time to discuss the abortion issue and what can and should be done. But it is also the time to talk about Iraq, the environment, tax policy, trade relations, and civil liberties.
If every time anyone raises another topic, the response is a suggest that one is not addressing the abortion issue, then my comment was not unfair.
the tramp was giving him head. the libs won't stop until they can destroy every decent American
Sean, it is unfair when you state that talking only about abortion is the equivalent of condoning the abuse of a young girl. That is what you said.
"the tramp was giving him head. the libs won't stop until they can destroy every decent American."
Whatever happen to all those conservative family values I keep hearing the "conservatives" harping on?
The fact that you would defend a crusty old horny coon, while calling an eighteen-year-old college girl a tramp, makes me wonder what your values are.
The fact remains, this upstanding, righteous professor got this college freshman and others in a group drunk (what I can't figure out is who was responsible for "carding" where these folks were drinking.), strike one. He took the girl back to his house, put her head in his lap and proceeded to sexual advances. Strike two. Took her to his office to continue te sexual advances to success. Strike three. There is no defense to that.
Hudson has a power hungry personality. That personality came out in this incident with the girl. It also came out in his political maneuverings. No excuse in either case; especially for one professing to be an upright Catholic.
Hudson does not belong in the political sphere, expecially in such a way that he attempts to where his Catholicism on his sleeve.

It is what I said. And yes, it is unfair to push every other concern out of public discussion. Speech is not rationed. It does not take away from the pro-life cause to every now and then mention some other legitimate concern. And those who take every topic and try to supress it by changing the topic to abortion are enabling these other social ills.
Yes Sean, I condone the abuse of young girls, that why I support Sen. Ted Kennedy.
Hudson really should resign. Buying an underage girl liquor is wrong enough.
DEMOCATHOLIC SAID: Sounds like you've had more than your share of experiences with tipsy college girls. You perv.
RUSTLER REPLIES: Thanks for demonstrating how a Democrat can make accusations and begin name calling over things that aren't there while ignoring Bill Clinton's and Ted Kennedy's escapades.
Look at the statement's below by DemoCatholic.
"The fact that you would defend a crusty old horny coon, while calling an eighteen-year-old college girl a tramp, makes me wonder what your values are."
How does DemoCatholic know that he is a "crusty old horny coon? You don't get around much do you Demo? Ever been to college Demo? And never saw a 18 year old tramp while you were there? You lead a sheltered life don't you?
And from my statement Demo will deduce that I am condoning Deal Hudson while in fact in this country of so-called "democracy" you're supposed to get a fair trial with witnesses and evidence and a confession before finding someone guilty. DemoCatholic calls himself CatholicsForDemocracy. So much for that. Goes to show you what a liberal really thinks of the rights and freedoms that a "democracy" is supposed to afford a person.
AND FURTHER:
"...this upstanding, righteous professor got this college freshman and others in a group drunk...."
OK Demo, where's the proof and what's the real story?
NEXT:
"He took the girl back to his house, put her head in his lap and proceeded to sexual advances."
He of course forced this innocent young lady to do this at the point of a gun. He poured liquor down her throat until she didn't have a clue as to what she was doing.
Sound a little like the 27 year old man who wants to sue the diocese for a priest who "forced" him into a sexual relationship (when he was 27).
"Took her to his office to continue te sexual advances to success. Strike three. There is no defense to that."
Yeah, he was twisting her arm all the way there. She was yelling and protesting, but no one would come to her defense! PORE innocent little girl! She was probably a virgin too. Hey Demo, was she a virgin? Or had she done this kind of thing before in high school? Oh I f-o-r-g-o-t that has "no bearing on it."
AND:
"Hudson has a power hungry personality."
And you know that because??? You want to?
"That personality came out in this incident with the girl."
Really, and every man who has an extramarital affair with a college girl has that kind of personality? Never heard of the 18 year old college girl who went to her professor's office and said, "I don't have time to study for this class, but I will do ANYTHING you want if you will give me a passing grade?"
And you want us to believe you live in the real world and don't make up things to destroy your enemies, huh Demo?
"It also came out in his political maneuverings."
What came out Demo? That he's a crusty old lecher like Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton?
"No excuse in either case; especially for one professing to be an upright Catholic."
And after making all these accusations without a shred of proof you want us to believe that you are an upright Catholic?
BTW Demo, you must be a homo who thinks that messing with girls makes a man a perv, but that a man messing with boys is normal?
Demo, experiences with girls may be a sin, but at least it's normal not a perversion.
OK Demo, grab a stone and you be the first to throw!!!
Deal,if he was smart, would resign quietly now rather than let this issue fester. Phil Gramm had the good sense to resign,( and Hagee,)
The McCain campaign is trying to manage the scandal. They now have declared that Hudson is just "a name on a list." By trying to minimize his role, they may escape the full impact of the scandal of their association with him, but it won't go away totally.
Quite a scandal, this is the only place I have even heard of him of the "scandal".
"How does DemoCatholic know that he is a "crusty old horny coon? You don't get around much do you Demo?
Ever been to college Demo? And never saw a 18 year old tramp while you were there? You lead a sheltered life don't you?"
When I was in college, yes, I lived a sheltered life. I went to seminary-college where I was studying to be a priest. Everyone in my college, regardless of sexual orientation, actual or perceived, were committed to living celibacy. The idea, for me, that a professor could take advantage of a student was, is, and always will be incredulous to me.
As to your suggestion that I might hold multiple standards regarding sex with eighteen-year-old-girls vs. sex with eighteen-year-old boys because, as you suggest, I'm a "homo," I'll let that slide because it has nothing to do with this conversation.
What Deal Hudson did amounted to date-rape, if not outright rape. Anything else is irrelevent to this conversation.
You asked for proof? He lost his tenure at Fordham University over the incident and had to put out a sizeable settlement. Innocent "tenured professors" don't give up their tenure and pay out settlements to their students. That's my proof.
You asked for how I measure this against Bill Clinton? I answered that question in an earlier blog post in which you commented.
You raised the issue of Ted Kennedy. He's before my time. I know nothing about "the incident," other than conspiracy theories that keep popping up, so I don't have a reason to address him. Plus Kennedy does not represent me.
I live in New York City. My Senators are Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer. My representative is Charles Rangel. If you had followed my blog at catholicsfordemocracy.org, you would have noticed I was very critical of both Schumer and Rangel for hypocricy reasons. I don't, nor will I ever, mince words, regardless of partisan politics.
So you can call an eighteen year old girl, whose life led her to be a ward of the State, whose intellect got her into the prestigious Fordham University, a tramp. I won't.
Given our Church's scandel, I'm not giving an out to any middle-age pervert who takes advantage of the youth -- Republican or Democrat.
"BTW Demo, you must be a homo who thinks that messing with girls makes a man a perv, but that a man messing with boys is normal?
Demo, experiences with girls may be a sin, but at least it's normal not a perversion.
OK Demo, grab a stone and you be the first to throw!!!"
On that note, yes. I am a homo. No I do not think sex with underage boys is anymore acceptable than sex with underage girls; nor do I believe coerced sex with legal-aged boys is anymore acceptable than coerced sex with legal-aged girls.
Try a different track. Deal Hudson got his student drunk and cooerced her, while drunk, into having sexual activities. Period. Even if she wanted it to happen, which you strongly imply, the language of his own behavior points out what he intended, ahead of time, to have happen it happen. He was predatory from the get-go, even if there was a part of her being compliant (the dynamics of sex and sexuality is very complex).
Why do I attack Hudson so strongly? Because he so strongly holds everyone else to a standard he, himself, will not live up to; and implies that everyone else, who is Catholic, is not Catholic when they do not live up to the very standard he, himself, will not live up to.
Honestly, is it possible for me to desire sex with an attractive 18-yr-old? Absolutely. Is it possible for me to have sex with an attractive 18-yr-old? Dunno. It depends on his emotional and mental maturity. I could never have sex with someone becaue they perceived me as someone to "look up to"; something an 18-yr-old would be most likely to do.
So here's the deal. You, yourself, call the 18-yr-old girl a tramp. You don't know her; though you challenge me for challenging "conservative-speaking" Deal Hudson who gave up tenure over an 18-yr-girl you call a tramp, though you don't know her.
You asked me to through the "first stone" as if there is any comparison between my desires and what I potentially act out on and what Hudson did in conntradiction to his own morall claims.
I know only throw the first stone, I throw a boulder. I have never, in my life, pursued anyone to act against their will nor made anyone uncomfortable about how they acted. Period.
