seriously. the republicans got to get their act together. the country needs an effective opposition party and right now, the republican party is not it. saying no to everything and calling obama names is not a program.

Yea, the Daily Kos and other political sites have been having a field day w/the Whigs er Reps new logo the past couple days lol

Interesting to note the dinosaurs lasted 160 million years becoming extinct @ 65 million years ago, whereas the Rep party was officially formed in 1854 on its way toward extinction by 2054 ?!? I kid :)

The party of Lincoln is rudderless, being led nowadays by extreme far right ideologues er nutcases ie palin, perry, sanford, cantor, boehner, bachmann, etc. ~ and joe mccarthy demogogue hate mongers ie billo, hannity, limbo, savage, beck, ingraham, coultergeist, etc.

OK, who am I kidding, these fools couldn't lead er find a rational message if they had a road map! ;)

Oh the irony of a bi-racial President totally discombobulating the party of Lincoln!

take care, blessings

Its all over for the GOP

The GOP loses one presidential election after having controlled the White House for 20 of the last 28 years and some of you are writing their obituary.

It is ridiculous to say it is all over for the GOP. History continues to happen and if Obama doesn't achieve positive economic results in the next couple of years, Americans will be looking for alternatives.

We know beyond any doubt that long term, you can't spend the kind of money and maintain the kind of debt that Obama's plan calls for without stagnating the economy.

I would not get too smug because the odds are that Republicans will have a big comeback at some point in the future.

PSALM 2008-2012
FIRST BOOK OF DEMOCRAT
OBAMA IS MY SHEPHERD,
I SHALL NOT WANT.

HE LEADETH ME BESIDE GOVERNMENT RUN FACTORIES.
HE RESTORETH MY FAITH IN THE WE CAN HAVE EVERYTHING PARTY.
HE GUIDETH ME IN THE PATH OF GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED EMPLOYMENT.
YEA, THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE BREAD LINE, I SHALL NOT GO
HUNGRY.
OBAMA HAS ANOINTED THE BREAD WINNERS WITH TAXES, MY CUP RUNNETH OVER; THEIR
TAXES GO HIGHER, SURELY, POVERTY AND HARD LIVING WILL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS
OF MY LIFE.
THE DEMOCRATS WILL SHADOW AND PROTECT ME FOREVER SO LONG AS I GIVE THEM MY
VOTE.
I AM GLAD I AM A SUB-SERVANT AMERICAN,
I AM GLAD THAT I LAY DOWN BESIDE CORRUPT POLITICIANS.
BUT I WISH I WAS A DOG
AND OBAMA WAS A TREE.

The above "prayer" seems pretty sacreligious to me. It amply demonstrates that the small minority that constitutes the sectarian Catholic right is more concerned with Republican politics than faith.

There are a couple reasons why Dems/Libs are "enjoying" the recent election. 1) As you say, the Reps had won 7 out of 11 previous presidential elections mainly because the Dems kept nominating god awful, weak candidates ie McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry and they had no problem pointing this fact out over the past (8) years, which is not surprising.

What is sooo enjoyable re: Obama's election is that many Reps/Cons were sooo damn sure that America would never/ever elect a young, relatively inexperienced socialist, communist, Marxist, Islamo-Fascist, Satan, the devil incarnate, anti-christ, Muslim, not an American citizen, Puff the magic Negro that when Obama won by 10 million votes many on the left were naturally extremely happy! Especially after Bush had been "appointed" president by the Supreme Court (8) years earlier.

And sorry Virginia, no Bradley Effect, in a country that has a 400 year history of racial oppression, I digress.

The trends don't look good for Reps obviously but after LBJ's landslide in 1964, Nixon won in 1968, but, but, but LBJ signed the Civil Rights bills of 1964/1965 thus giving the Reps the racist South for several generations and even in 2008: TX, LA, MS, AL, GA and SC are still heavily racist and Rep.

And the Vietnam war started protests across the nation between 1965 and 1968 that most Americans blamed on the Dems which helped the Reps win a narrow victory in 1968 after Bobby Kennedy had been assassinated and the riots at the 1968 Dem convention in Chicago. Timing is everything, eh.

Plus the Vietnam war is still, to this day, a 100% Dem war whereas the bogus, unlawful Iraq war is and will remain a 100% Republican war till the end of time also. As Thomas Ricks, an expert on Iraq said, the Iraq war was the worst military decision in the history of the world!, I digress.

Sooo yea, sometime in the future, say the 23rd century ;) the Party of NO! ie no solutions, no rational message, no vision may make a comeback, but I'm not holding my breath as more minority/younger Dem voters come into the electorate every day and many more older white Rep voters leave the planet for the pearly gates every day ...
