POPE SAYS: SPREAD THE WEALTH

When policies do not presume or promote objective values, the resulting moral relativism, instead of leading to a society that is free, fair, just and compassionate, tends instead to produce frustration, despair, selfishness and a disregard for the life and liberty of others. Policy makers are therefore right to look urgently for ways to uphold excellence in education, to promote social opportunity and economic mobility, to examine ways to favour long-term employment and to spread wealth much more fairly and broadly throughout society.

What the Pope is talking about is subsidiarity. That has to do with you and me, the LOCAL level. He is NOT talking about income redistribution with government controls. Stop lying!!!

Kathy,

It is so funny when I do nothing more than quote the Holy Father, you call it lying.

Again, I would join the Holy Father in saying that policy makers are therefore right to look urgently for ways to spread wealth much more fairly and broadly throughout society.

Again, he is talking about small, local SUSIDIARITY. He is NOT talking about BIG GOVERNMENT. I will say no more.

Just as well you say no more. Calling someone a liar for simply quoting the Pope is out of line.

Anyway, the Pope is saying what he was saying. He said nothing about subsidiarity nor big governement. he said policy makers (not restricting it to any level of policy makers) need to work urgently for ways to spread wealth much more fairly and broadly throughout society.

Subsidiarity is something to consider on that goal. For example, rather than have national programs, it can be done at the enterprise level between workers and management through collective bargaining. That is the example of subsidiarity the Church has most often referenced.

God bless you.
