BISHOP OF SIOUX CITY (IA) CALLS FOR VIOLENT OPPOSITION TO CONTRACEPTION

VIOLENTLY OPPOSE WOMEN USING BIRTH CONTROL?

As part of a webcast held last week by a conservative political organization, the Most Rev. Walker Nickless, the Bishop of the Diocese of Sioux City, warned that contraception was a grave moral evil and that Christians "have to stand up and violently oppose this."

It is very clear that with 98% of women using birth control, the democratic process does not offer much hope in efforts against contraception.  But does the closing of that door mean that violence is the only alternative?  What's your view, peaceful or violent means of opposing contraception?  Or like many Catholics, do you think the Church should focus on other issues entirely?

I guess the bishop wants us to start bombing birth control clinics and Walgreen's

While the language from the bishops is escalting even to calls for violent opposition, the Republicans are backing down. They really don't want access to contraception to be the #1 issue in the election. Reid said he would put the Republican amendment to let everyone's boss decide to a vote.

Who is denying anyone access to contraception? The truth is its about forcing someone to pay for your contraception against their will. I realize you cant argue on the merits so you change the arguement. Liberalism works great until you run out of other peoples money.

Who is backing down, 5 bills in the house to repeal. The Dems control the Senate and it will be voted down.

Why wont Harry Reid let Obamas budget come up for a vote?

First is was killing doctors and bombing clinics. Now the Catholic Church wants violence against contraception. I guess no one should be surprised.

Seriously, what does he mean by "violent opposition"?

Shouldn't the press and the rest of the bishops and the Vatican call him and pin him down on this one?

I totally agree Jake. He needs some "fraternal correction" from the Pope and his brother bishops. And he owes the public a retraction. Four days and he has not apologied for his call for violence? Shameful.

Katherine 4 years and you still havent apoligized for your support of Obama, shameful.

Anoymous and Gandhi, if that where we are going with this fine. You are baby killers, pure and simple. Their blood is on your hands.

Wearing rubbers when it rains is against God's will. If God didn't want us to get our feet wet, he would have made us with waterproof feet!

I may be missing something but I really don't recall President Obama urging women to have abortions. I don't think he's forced any women to have abortions. He is not a baby killer, at least not by way of abortions. And not everyone believes a human fetus is a baby.

Simple Simon, fitting name. Keep it up and you'll go far up the ladder in the Democrat party!

This is sick that a bishop would call for violence against women who are using birth control. He needs to resign now.

Max, why doncha just refuse to pay your taxes. Paying your taxes? Blood is on your hands if you really believe what you're writing.

As far as your prediction goes ... better than being stuck in the muck and mire of the GOP.

Max said...

Well up until Obamacare goes into effect my taxes dont pay for abortions. Hopefully the Supreme Court overturns Obama's mandates, and the next Republican President puts a stake into Obamacare.

Id rather be stuck in the mud and mire of the GOP than the blood and guts of unborn babies that the Democrat party wallows in.

Not to worry Max. I have a certain disposition towards the works of mercy, including visiting the incarcerated. What prison is it you think to which you will be sentenced when you stop paying your taxes? Maybe you should start now as an act of protest prior to heath care implemenation? I mean, wacha waitin' for?

Max said...

Not to worry Simple, I have every expectation that the Supreme Court will overturn the Obama Mandates and a new President will dump the rest of Obamacare in the trash where it belongs.

"Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's" The whole idea of priests or clergy telling people how to vote is repugnant to me. I think that people who are christian should fight to teach about the fact your body is connected to your soul, not kill those who try to deal with the results of that ignorance.
